Marriage vigil at Luna Park ‎

Marriage vigil at Luna Park ‎
smash-blash.blogspot.com -EIGH SALES, PRESENTER: In a month Julia Gillard will deliver her first Budget as Prime Minister. Chris, the Government keeps saying it's going to be a tough budget.

This government has been criticised about the fact that the timetable it's got for returning the budget to surplus in just two years' time is a political timetable.

LEIGH SALES: Chris, there's been a lot of talk about the Government trying to make savings on disability pensions. Is the Prime Minister going to be talking anymore about that this evening?

CHRIS UHLMANN: Yeah, she's gonna further I think and talk a little bit more about long term unemployment. LEIGH SALES: Chris, very briefly, there are always losers in a tough budget. CHRIS UHLMANN: It certainly is. There's fights over the carbon tax, there's fights with the clubs, there's fights going on now with the military and some people who are beginning to get word that their budgets are going to be tight are beginning to fight with the Government already. LEIGH SALES: Chris Uhlmann, thankyou.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard came face-to-face with same-sex marriage protesters for the first time last night after failing to slip into Luna Park unnoticed for her speech to the Sydney Institute.
Protesters were armed with posters featuring real same-sex couples and families effected by the ban on same-sex marriage in Australia, with the images taken from the AME’s Potential Wedding Album project.
When protesters first moved to the car park entrance, police intervened claiming AME had breeched a protest agreement, and threatened to fine organisers and forcibly remove protesters if necessary.
